DUBUQUE, Iowa — A trio of young Panthers picked up open titles on the mat on Saturday afternoon as UNI's Trever Anderson (125 pounds) and Ryder Downey (149 pounds) took first place in their respective weight classes at the Pat Flanagan Open at Loras College. Freshman Cory Land also scaled the podium with a second place finish at 133 pounds.
Anderson's successful day opened with a pin of UW-Parkside's Konstantinos Papadoulous just one minute, 15 seconds into his open match. The Ankeny, Iowa native picked up a second pin in the semifinals over Loras' Wiley Jessup in 2 minutes, 10 seconds en route to a 6-0 decision over Luc Valdez (UW-Oshkosh).
