GREENWOOD, Ind. --- UNI wrestler Tyrell Gordon joined elite company in academic excellence as he was named a Third Team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Wednesday.
The honor, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom, separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. To be eligible for All-American honors, student-athletes must have also been named CSC Academic All-District.
Gordon's recognition marks the 56th CSC Academic All-American selection in school history, and just the third time a Panther wrestler has received the honor, joining Gary Steffensmeier (1992) and Nick Baima (2007).
