As much as he appreciates the quirkiness and tradition of Northern Iowa’s home gym, Doug Schwab has an even greater appreciation for life on the road in college wrestling.
To the Northern Iowa coach, there might not be anything in the sport more satisfying than the sound of silence in enemy territory.
“I don’t think there’s anything better than beating someone on their home turf, beating them in front of their fans and in front of their girlfriends,” Schwab said. “To me, there’s nothing better than that.”
Thanks to a scheduling twist, the Panthers have spent nearly two months on the road.
