ST. LOUIS – UNI wrestler Bill Smith will be the fifth Panther to be inducted into the Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame since its inception in 1997.
"As our only Olympic gold medal winner, Bill Smith stood out as a legend among all the great student-athletes that have ever competed at UNI," said UNI Director of Athletics David Harris. "His accomplishments are a significant part of our history and we grateful that the Missouri Valley Conference has decided to bestow this tremendous honor on him. Through the sport of wrestling, Bill wanted to find ways to inspire others to dream big and work hard, so this is another great way to honor his legacy.
