CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — The Northern Iowa women came up just shy in a battle for Missouri Valley Conference supremacy Friday night, falling 78-75 in overtime to league co-leader Missouri State at the McLeod Center.
Liza Fruendt’s 3-pointer with 22 seconds remaining in regulation tied the game at 68-all for Missouri State (15-7, 8-2), which raced to a seven-point lead in the extra frame and survived a Northern Iowa tying attempt at the buzzer.
The Panthers (12-9, 7-3) were paced by Madison Weekly’s 19 points. Sharnae Lamar added a career-best 14 points, with Jen Keitel (12) and Amber Sorenson (10) also reaching double figures in scoring.
