BROOKINGS, S.D. — In a game of seemingly last-possession-wins, South Dakota State won the back-and-forth lottery Wednesday night.
The Jackrabbits outlasted Northern Iowa 89-86 in double overtime at Frost Arena, with Ellie Thompson scoring the go-ahead basket with 12 seconds to play in the second extra period.
South Dakota State sophomore Alexis Alexander drove from halfcourt into the lane to sink a shot at the buzzer of the first overtime session and tie the score at 78-all.
Northern Iowa (3-5) finished the game with three players in double figures, with Madison Weekly scoring a game-high 24 points.
