NORMAN, Okla. --- A trio of Panthers made the journey south to Oklahoma, competing in the throwing events at the Sooner Invite on Friday and Saturday at the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex on the University of Oklahoma campus.
UNI opened competition on Friday in the women's hammer throw, with redshirt junior Mari Shavers showing out with a second place finish, recording a career-best 59.30 meter toss (194' 6") on her third attempt. Shavers' new high-water mark breaks her previous personal best by 0.32 meters and ranks fifth best in UNI history.
Shavers, along with teammates Katie Fare and Makenna Wilson all competed in Friday's shot put, with Fare leading the way in fourth place with a throw of 16.
