DES MOINES, Iowa — Lorena Cardoso and Darta Dalecka both finished as runners-up in their respective singles flights as UNI tennis competed at Drake's Bulldog Classic over the weekend in its second of three fall competitions.
Cardoso opened the weekend with a first round win over Creighton's Allison Wilcox (6-3, 7-5) before advancing to the black flight finals after Hitakamya Narwal Singh (South Dakota) retired. South Dakota's Grace Chadick would command the championship match, defeating Cardoso, 6-0, 6-2. Cardoso now sits at 2-4 in singles.
Dalecka, entering the tournament with a 1-2 record in singles, defeated Jule Schulte of North Dakota (6-0, 6-4) and Sorcha Caves (0-6, 6-2 [11-9]) to reach the white flight championship.
