CARBONDALE, Ill. – The University of Northern Iowa softball split a pair of games against Southern Illinois on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Salukis 1-0 in a pitcher's duel before falling in five innings in game two, 8-0. The Panthers' (36-16, 14-8 MVC) split puts them into a tie for second in the Missouri Valley Conference with in-state opponent Drake, who UNI holds the tiebreaker against having won the season series 2-1.
Chelsea Ross (15-6) pitched a gem in game one of the day as she came out on top in the pitcher's duel against SIU freshman Brianna Jones.
