NORMAL, Ill. -- A late-inning home run propelled the Panthers to their first win of the weekend over the Illinois State Redbirds.
UNI extended their win streak to seven games on Friday evening in a 6-3 win over Illinois State. With the game tied with two innings to go, it looked like the Panthers would have their first extra innings game in two weeks. But a two-run homer from first baseman Daryn Lamprecht in the top of the seventh sealed UNI's 17th Missouri Valley Conference win of the season.
The Redbirds took an early one-run lead in the bottom of the second after the Panthers' offense struggled to connect against pitcher Hannah James.
