CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — Bennett Koch and Jeremy Morgan scored 11 points apiece and Northern Iowa cruised to a 74-37 season-opening win over Coe College on Saturday.
The Panthers had an early 17-0 run to build a 22-4 lead, and their Division III foe never mounted a challenge. It was 45-18 at the half as the Kohawks shot 29 percent and had 10 turnovers before the break.
Morgan had all of his points during the run, including three 3-pointers.
Northern Iowa shot 54.5 percent in the first half and 53 for the game. Northern Iowa got 45 points from reserves, including 10 from Isaiah Brown.
