CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — Less than a month away from opening its 2021 spring football season, Northern Iowa has seen its conference-only schedule revamped entirely.
The Missouri Valley Football Conference released its full updated slate Thursday, a move than became necessary once Indiana State announced it was opting out of the Valley's spring season. Among several changes, the Panthers will now begin the season Friday, Feb. 19, against South Dakota State. UNI's originally scheduled opener was Feb. 20 versus Illinois State.
The new schedule eliminates a mid-season bye and has games in eight consecutive weeks, with a rescheduling window for the week of April 17.
