CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — Winning time Tuesday evening looked like a typical Missouri Valley Conference weeknight.
Some separation, but not enough for anyone to feel comfortable. Each late possession between Northern Iowa and Indiana State required poise and precision.
MVC wins don’t have to be pretty, and UNI’s two haven’t been. But another successful emergence from the mud have the Panthers above water early in conference play. Tuesday’s 68-60 victory has UNI at 2-1 in the Valley for the first time since 2015.
This successful recipe showcased some versatility. The Panthers (13-2, 2-1) won for the first time this season while hitting fewer than five treys, going 3-for-16 from deep on average nights from AJ Green (2-for-5), Trae Berhow (1-for-4) and Isaiah Brown (0-for-5).
