After a stellar sophomore season that included conference player of the year honors, Northern Iowa sophomore guard AJ Green has declared for the 2020 NBA Draft. He won't hire an agent, leaving the door open for a likely return to Cedar Falls.
Barring something unforeseen, Green will be back at UNI for a junior year again filled with expectations. But Saturday's decision is a testament to the lofty expectations Green has already matched and the exceedingly high hopes ahead.
"I don’t think AJ Green should leave this season," NBA Draft analyst Sam Vecenie wrote on Twitter shortly after the announcement, "but AJ Green is really good and I don’t think enough people noticed.
