The University of Northern Iowa had 13 athletes receive the Missouri Valley Conference President's Council Academic Excellence Award the league announced Friday. The award recognizes student-athletes with a minimum 3.8 cumulative grade point average, participation in athletics a minimum of two years and students within 18 credit hours of graduation.
UNI's winners include: Ted Friedman (basketball), Ben Fick (track and field), Terry Nielsen (track and field), Jana Braakhuis (volleyball), Stephanie Davison (basketball), Alyssa Johnson (basketball), Sonja Przybylski (golf), Sarah McHugh (soccer), Maddie Welch (soccer), Sarah Kemp (swimming), Tara Jackson (track), Rachel Peth (track), Tatiana Rice (track).
