Doug Schwab needed just two words to describe Parker Keckeisen's wrestling style.
"All gas," said Schwab, Northern Iowa's wrestling coach. "The whole time. That’s how he trains. That’s how he wrestles. That’s how he competes."
And that approach has led Keckeisen to some pretty big wins already this season.
The redshirt freshman made his Northern Iowa dual debut two weeks ago with a 21-8 major decision over Oklahoma's Darrien Roberts. The next week, he beat Oklahoma State's Dakota Geer, a past All-American, 4-2 in sudden victory.
That strong run continued Friday night in DeKalb, Illinois, where Keckeisen, who is ranked 10th in Trackwrestling's latest Division I poll, notched a come-from-behind 8-5 win over Northern Illinois' Brit Wilson, who is ranked 12th.
