SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Northern Iowa men's basketball team suffered its second straight loss Wednesday as Missouri State captured the win in the final seconds of the game.
The Bears' Dequon Miller drove the length of the floor and made a layup with 6.1 seconds left, giving the Missouri State a 59-58 Missouri Valley Conference victory. Northern Iowa (9-7 overall, 1-2 MVC) had one last shot when Wes Washpun took a chance from inside the lane after getting the ball from an inbounds pass, but his shot hit the rim and bounced away.
The Panthers led 28-26 at halftime, marking the first time this season UNI lost when leading at the break.
