CEDAR FALLS — The Northern Iowa wrestling team beat Air Force, 31-6, on Friday night here at the West Gym, and for the first time all season, the Panthers are above .500, now 6-5 overall and 5-2 against Big 12 opponents.
That might read like an odd stat, considering how well the Panthers have been wrestling lately.
Friday's win was the fifth in a row for Northern Iowa, a run that actually began with a 27-11 win over this same Air Force team in Colorado Springs last month. In that span, the Panthers have won 32 of 50 total matches with 17 bonus-point wins — 11 major decisions, four pins and two technical falls.
