TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Northern Iowa women were a defensive tour de force Friday night, allowing just 16 second-half points on the road to secure a 61-45 victory over Indiana State.
Jen Keitel and Madison Weekly each had 18 points for Northern Iowa (14-9, 9-3 Missouri Valley Conference). Stephanie Davison had 12 points, and Sharnae Lamar added nine rebounds and eight assists.
The Panthers shot just 18 percent from the field in the game’s first six minutes, but they held the Sycamores (9-13, 5-6) to 12 percent shooting in the second half to pull away.
Amber Sorenson moved into a tie for third all-time at Northern Iowa in career 3-pointers made with her lone triple Friday.
