CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — The University of Northern Iowa received a $2 million donation to build an artificial turf football field, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reported.
Construction on the outdoor practice facility is set to start in the spring.
Doug and Ann Goschke donated the money in honor of Doug's late sister, Junean Goschke. She graduated from the State College of Iowa, now the University of Northern Iowa, in 1966.
“As a former collegiate football player, I know that you play like you practice,” Doug Goschke said in a statement. “Having a practice field with turf similar to your competition is a plus.
