COLUMBIA, Mo. — Northern Iowa softball came into Saturday's winner's matchup of the NCAA Columbia regional against hosts and No. 8 overall seed Missouri confident in its chances to pull the upset because of its consistent play through the season.
As many Southeastern Conference teams had done, the Northern Iowa Panthers played well, but the Tigers found a way to create runs the second and third time through the lineup.
Missouri used two solo home runs and a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Northern Iowa 4-0 at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
