Northern Iowa men's basketball lost to BYU, 90-71, in the second round of the NIT, ending its season at 20-11.
This game was decided in the second half, when the Cougars decidedly outplayed the Panthers and outscored UNI, 43-29. Gideon George led BYU with 27 points on 10-for-15 shooting, including 5-for-9 from 3-point range.
Noah Carter led UNI with 24 points and AJ Green added 16 points and five assists. Trae Berhow scored 13 points and Bowen Born chipped in seven off the bench.
An Austin Phyfe jumper gave the Panthers a 20-10 at the 13:28 mark of the first half.
