CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — Northern Iowa leaned defensive in its latest recruiting group, signing 12 defensive players and three athletes as part of its 21-player 2018 class.
Defensive back was a top priority as the Panthers signed five of them — Tayler Johnson and Jevon Brekke from Minneapolis; Roosevelt Lawrence from Tampa, Florida; Taj Moffett from University Park, Washington; and Shakespeare Williams from Kansas City.
“I was really pleased with how it came together,” UNI coach Mark Farley told the Register on Wednesday. “We needed to find some defensive players. I thought we did a great job there with the secondary.
