Northern Iowa, Iowa State sit fourth, fifth after Day One of Big 12 wrestling championships

After Day One of the 2022 Big 12 Wrestling Championships at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, both the Iowa State and Northern Iowa wrestling teams are among the top five in the team race … which sounds nice.

But …

The reality is they’re currently sitting fourth and fifth — Northern Iowa in fourth with 85 team points, Iowa State in fifth with 82.5. Both in-state programs trail first-place Missouri (109.5), second-place Oklahoma (93.5) and third-place Oklahoma State (90).

Three Panther wrestlers made the finals — Brody Teske (125), Kyle Biscoglia (133) and Parker Keckeisen (184) — while David Carr, at 157 pounds, was the only Cyclone wrestler to reach the championship match, doing so for the third time in his career.
