PITTSBURGH, Penn. — It’s only one day, but the Northern Iowa wrestling team has set itself up for a strong showing at the 2019 NCAA Championships.

The Panthers sent three wrestlers to the quarterfinals and advanced all six to Friday, totaling 15.5 points to sit 10th in the team race. Penn State is first with 32.5 points, followed by Ohio State (25.5), Iowa (24) and Oklahoma State and Minnesota.

Northern Iowa has never finished higher than 15th under head coach Doug Schwab and hasn't finished in the top-10 since 1992 (10th) when Don Briggs was the coach.
