Despite holding out hope that circumstances would change, the Missouri Valley Football Conference has pulled the plug on its fall football slate.
The MVFC officially announced Friday that its 2020 league slate has been canceled amid the coronavirus pandemic and is tentatively moved to spring 2021. The Valley, of which Northern Iowa has been a part of since 1985, will allow its members to seek non-conference games in the fall at "institutional discretion."
"The Missouri Valley Football Conference Presidents Council has announced the league's schools will not conduct conference competition this fall," the league said in a release.
