CEDAR FALLS — Here is what the coach of the winning team said after Friday night’s knockdown, drag-out wrestling dual at the McLeod Center:
“I knew it was going to be a dogfight,” he said, “so I wasn’t surprised by that. I just think there was a lot of scrappin’, back and forth.”
And here is what the coach of the losing team said:
“It lived up to the billing,” he said. “That was a hell of an exciting meet. Lot of twists and turns.”
Such was the vibe after Iowa State’s 16-15 win over Northern Iowa before 4,624 at the McLeod Center — and we’re calling shenanigans on that official attendance number, because there’s absolutely no way there were 2,394 seats available in that building.
