AMES, Ia. — Iowa State women’s basketball coach Bill Fennelly has a saying for his team: Win quarters and you win games.
The Cyclones narrowly won three quarters Tuesday and picked up a big in-state rivalry win.
Iowa State held off a Northern Iowa team that wouldn’t go away all night and picked up a 76-68 win before an announced crowd of 10,063 fans at Hilton Coliseum.
“We won three of the four quarters by a little,” Fennelly said. “My minor was math in college, but if you win three quarters and tie one, you’re probably going to win the game.
