TULSA, Okla. – Four UNI wrestlers advanced to the semifinals after the first session of the Big 12 Wrestling Championship Saturday at the BOK Center in Tulsa.
Top seeds Bryce Steiert and Taylor Lujan moved on to semis and were joined by Max Thomsen and Michael Blockhus.
Steiert led the way with a pin in his opening round match and an 8-0 major decision in his quarterfinal matchup. He will face Oklahoma State's Joseph Smith, the fifth-seed, in the semifinals.
Lujan grabbed a 10-5 win in his early match and survived a scare from eighth-seed Jacob Thompson from Air Force in the quarters, winning 11-10.
