CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — It became clear early in Wednesday's in-state rematch that Northern Iowa had more in the tank for Drake than it did one week prior. How long, though, could the Panthers withstand an inevitable Bulldog charge?
Midway through the second half, it finally came.
After roughly 30 seesawing minutes, Drake finally found enough separation to take control of a rare McLeod Center success. The Bulldogs emerged with a 77-69 victory, sealing just their fourth sweep over UNI in the last 30 seasons and first since 2008. Drake needed this one to keep any lingering NCAA Tournament at-large hopes alive.
