VALPARAISO, Ind. -- Northern Iowa got a great start from Brooke Craig, but the Panthers were unable to generate any offense as UNI dropped a Missouri Valley Conference softball game, 2-0, to Valparaiso Saturday.
The Panthers (18-15 overall, 3-5 MVC) managed just three kits off Kenzie Grossman, all singles, as they were shutout for just the second time this season.
The Crusaders scored their only runs the needed in the fifth when an error and a hit batter opened the door. Craig allowed just three hits, while walking one and striking out three. Grossman walked one, hit a batter and struck out only one Panther.
