CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Former UNI defensive back Elijah Campbell was drafted by the DC Defenders fourth among defensive backs Wednesday, on the second day of the XFL draft.
Campbell comes into the league after a successful run with the Birmingham Iron in the short-lived AAF this spring. He recorded 21 total tackles and notched a team-high two fumble recoveries in the nine-game season.
The 2017 UNI graduate was named third-team All-American and first-team All-MVFC in 2017 and picked up second-team All-MVFC honors during his junior year. He had eight interceptions in his two years, including five during his senior season and 93 total tackles.
