CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Senior defensive tackle Jared Brinkman was named to the Stats Perform Preseason All-America First Team, and junior offensive tackle Trevor Penning received second-team recognition when the organization released their preseason honors, Monday.
Brinkman, a consensus first-team All-America after the spring season, was the MVFC Defensive Player of the Year. He led the league in tackles for loss despite playing on the interior of the defensive line.
After a dominant spring season, Penning has turned heads with his strength and prototypical NFL size. Like Spencer Brown a season ago, scouting services are already beginning to hype the talented offensive lineman.
