Senior jumper Jehvania Whyte competed in the NCAA Championships on Saturday and finished within the top 20 in the triple jump.
Whyte posted a mark of 12.84 meters on her third jump, but was unable to advance into the top nine to the second round of the event.
Head Coach Connie Teaberry told NIU Athletics she was proud of Whyte and her leaps on Saturday evening.
"Unfortunately, we ended on a sour note," Teaberry said. "Technique just wasn't conducive to a big jump today and her competitors showed no mercy. Jehvania's outdoor track and field career at NIU comes to an end and we are proud of the representation and notoriety Jehvania has brought to the program.
