CHICAGO – In the year of the underdog, the Northern Illinois football team squandered its chance to join the parade of improbable comebacks.
We've seen two teams come back from 3-1 deficits in best-of seven series to win titles. And both did so to overcome a lot of baggage – the Cubs ending a 108-year World Series drought, and the Cavaliers ending decades of futility for an entire city.
There was also some kind of politics thing or something on Tuesday that featured an underdog comeback against an overwhelming favorite or some such. I'm fuzzy on the details.
