DeKALB — Softball won its three-game weekend series against the Kent State University Golden Flashes in three tightly contested games.
The teams split Saturday’s doubleheader with Kent State (15-21, 5-6) taking the first game, 6-5, and NIU winning the second game, 7-6.
The Huskies (18-15, 6-5 Mid-American Conference) took the rubber match, 8-6, Sunday. The game was rescheduled for Sunday after inclement weather caused a rainout Friday.

The game went into extra innings after NIU tied the game, 5-5, in the top of the fifth inning.
