The Northern Illinois women's soccer team was predicted to finish last in the Mid-American Conference West before the season.
Now the Huskies are headed to the MAC Championship.
The No. 8 seeded Huskies scored three unanswered goals and hung on to beat No. 4 Western Michigan 3-2 in a semifinal on Friday night at Kent State.
It's the first trip to the MAC Championship for the Huskies since 2006.
After a first half goal by the Broncos, who beat the Huskies 2-1 in the regular season finale, Northern Illinois got two goals from Allie Ingram early in the second half – including two assists from Natalie Yass.
