NIU women's basketball: Woods thriving in starting role, Huskies romp RedHawks

DeKALB – A smiling Courtney Woods clapped her hands together after making her third 3-pointer of the game midway through the second quarter.

It was that kind of day for the freshman and the rest of the Northern Illinois women's basketball team in a 92-73 romp over Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday afternoon at the NIU Convocation Center.

The freshman shooter from Australia finished with a career-high 19 points on 5 for 8 from the 3-point line with five rebounds and five assists in her third game since being inserted into the starting lineup.

"We thought we would put our best offensive lineup out there and see if we can get jump-started a little bit," Northern Illinois coach Lisa Carlsen said of switching up the starting lineup.
