When the Northern Illinois women's basketball team trailed late on the road, a freshman that stepped up.
Freshman guard Janae Poisson had a career night and the Huskies erased a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter in a dramatic 98-97 victory at Kent State on Wednesday night.
Poisson scored a career-high 27 points and connected on four 3-pointers on the night. She had a game-tying jumper midway through the fourth quarter and added a pair of free throws that cushioned the lead for the Huskies in the final minute.
"She plays with so much confidence as a freshman," Northern Illinois coach Lisa Carlsen said.
