DeKALB – The offense for the Northern Illinois women's basketball team finally looked human.
The usually high-scoring Huskies struggled from the floor and suffered their first conference loss in a 84-55 defeat to Akron in a Wednesday matinée contest at the NIU Convocation Center that snapped a six-game winning streak for Northern Illinois.
"Obviously that's not one to be proud of," Northern Illinois coach Lisa Carlsen said. "(Akron) did a good job of trying to keep us uncomfortable and once we were hesitant offensively, I think you saw us press a little bit."
