DeKALB – For a two-minute stretch to close out the first quarter, the Northern Illinois women's basketball team looked every bit the scoring machine it's become this season.
The rest of the game was a different story.
The Huskies struggled from the floor and suffered a tough 79-75 loss to Toledo on Wednesday night at the NIU Convocation Center.
Northern Illinois (19-9 overall, 12-5 in Mid-American Conference West) finished shooting 36 percent from the floor and 24 percent from beyond the arc, but was outstanding during a 17-0 run that closed out the first quarter – including one stretch in which the Huskies scored 13 points in just 1:46.
