DeKALB – The Eastern Michigan women's basketball team wouldn't go away.
Northern Illinois led for nearly the entire second half but the Eagles snuck away with an 87-80 win in overtime on Saturday night at the NIU Convocation Center.
"That was obviously a tough one," Northern Illinois coach Lisa Carlsen said. "It's pretty obvious early in the season that every game is going to be a battle. You can't get too high and you can't get too low. You have to get back at it."
The Huskies (8-6 overall, 1-2 in Mid-American Conference West) led by as much as nine on two separate occasions in the second half, but the Eagles (11-3 overall, 2-1 in MAC East) chipped their way back.
