When the Kent State softball team won the series over Northern Illinois in DeKalb earlier this season, coach Eric Oakley said he was impressed with Huskies pitcher Alex Frenz and thought the two teams would likely meet again this year.
On Thursday, Oakley's prophecy came true.
Only this time, Frenz threw a four-hitter to help lead the No. 4 Huskies to a 2-0 victory over the top-seeded Golden Flashes in the second round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio.
Frenz, the conference's Freshman of the Year, only walked one and struck out another batter in the win.
