NIU softball: Frenz's standout freshman season big reason behind Huskies' success

DeKALB – In a series against the likely favorite to win the Mid-American Conference, the Northern Illinois softball team sent a freshman into the circle in two of the games.

Alex Frenz responded by throwing two quality contests against Kent State, continuing her strong start to her first season with the Huskies.

"Every game that I go into, I have that, 'Oh gosh, this is a big game,' feeling," said Frenz, who went 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA in 14 innings pitched this weekend. "I don't know if its because it's my freshman year or whatever, but every game I pitch, I still get butterflies.
