The Northern Illinois softball team got the go-ahead run to the plate but lost 2-1 to No. 2 Miami (Ohio) in the third round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Friday in Akron, Ohio.
The No. 4 Huskies will face No. 3 Ohio in an elimination game at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. With a win, the Huskies (35-19) will need to beat Miami twice in order to win the championship.
On Friday, the Huskies cut the RedHawks 2-0 lead in half on a seventh inning home run by Alaynie Woollard. They had a runner on with two outs but Northern Illinois slugger Kayti Grable grounded out to short to end it.
