Northern Illinois junior wrestler Shawn Scott had his run in the NCAA Championships come to an end on Friday night.
After being one of the final 12 wrestlers still in the tournament at 197, Scott fell 5-3 to Patrick Downey (Iowa State) at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Earlier in the day, Scott came away with two more wins – beating Joshua Dasilveira (Arizona State) 3-2 and Kyle Conel (Kent State) 5-1 in the consolation bracket. Scott had beaten Conel 3-1 in sudden victory during the Mid-American Conference Championships.
Scott, who finished the year 26-11, was one of four Northern Illinois wrestlers to make it to the NCAA Championships.
