DeKALB – Drew Hare may have played his last game at Northern Illinois.
The senior quarterback is out for "an extended period of time," Huskies coach Rod Carey said on Tuesday, after suffering an ankle and knee injury on the same play during the third quarter of Saturday night's loss at South Florida.
Carey said that he will probably miss the majority of the season and there's no guarantee he will come back this year – saying the family is considering getting surgery on the knee, which is the more severe of the two.
"My heart is absolutely broken for Drew on this thing," said Carey, who did not give an official diagnosis.
