NIU men's basketball: Porter suspended indefinitely after run-in with police

Northern Illinois men's basketball player Laytwan Porter has been suspended indefinitely after he was pulled over by police while the Huskie guard was driving with a suspended or revoked license and had marijuana in the vehicle on March 30 – two days after the Huskies were eliminated from the Vegas 16 tournament.

According to court records, Porter had less than 2.5 grams of marijuana, along with a baggie, a glass jar and a cigar cutter. His court date will be May 6.

The 6-foot-2 Porter was a major bench player for the Huskies in his freshman season, averaging 4.
