DeKALB – Even without the reigning Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, the Ohio men's basketball team did enough late to steal a road win at Northern Illinois.
The Bobcats broke open a tied game with five minutes remaining with a big run and came away with a 78-69 victory over the Huskies on Saturday night at the NIU Convocation Center.
"We just didn't close the game and it's disappointing," Northern Illinois coach Mark Montgomery said. "Credit Ohio – they made tough shots when they had to make tough shots."
The game was tied, 60-60, after Northern Illinois senior guard Dontel Highsmith split a pair of free throws with 5:32 left.
