NIU men's basketball: Huskies drop seventh straight road game

Northern Illinois senior guard Travon Baker scored six points in a matter of seconds to give the Huskies the lead early in the second half at Central Michigan.

The advantage didn't last long.

The Chippewas bounced back with some hot shooting down the stretch to continue the Huskies' road woes in a 76-64 win on Tuesday night in Mt. Pleasant.

"We have to get ourselves together and win on the road," Northern Illinois coach Mark Montgomery said. "That comes down to mental toughness and stop playing individually and start playing as a team. It shouldn't be that much separation at home and the road"

The Huskies (18-10 overall, 7-8 in MAC West) have now lost seven consecutive road games, but they are 15-1 at home on the season – including 6-1 in conference play.
